| Summer is here and it is HOT! I hope that you are drinking plenty of fluids and staying hydrated in the bee yard. We are so excited to see everyone in a few weeks at the 2024 Summer Conference. We will host our MBP day on Thursday, July 18 th with a jam-packed schedule. Come learn about Honey Bee Anatomy, Glands and Pheromones, Nutrition, Honey Production, Swarms, Integrated Pest Management and more Thursday. Once again, we will host a live bee yard with many activities such as queen marking and mite washes. We will wrap up the day with our Bee Bowl to test the collective knowledge of your club (and have a blast doing it!) | Recently, I was able to spend the day with our state Apiary Inspector from Clemson University, Brad Cavin, at my bee yard participating in the National Honey Bee Health Survey. Brad is a wonderful resource for our beekeepers. If you ever have questions regarding the health of your colony, reach out to Brad at scavin@clemson.edu. You can send him pictures of any colony issues or just ask questions. He is here to help us navigate the health of our colonies! |
